Overview

insight.meldra gives analysts, data engineers, and energy operations teams a unified control plane to explore, query, and visualize energy data. Whether writing direct ANSI SQL, asking questions in plain English via the AI Agent, or exploring asset connections on the topology graph, all insights are powered directly by open Apache Iceberg tables without per-query seat taxes or vendor lock-in.

1. Query Lab & Data Exploration

Query Lab is your workspace for high-speed SQL queries over smart meter telemetry, estate metadata, and conformed gold-layer tables.

Embedded SQL Execution

Run standard ANSI SQL queries powered by DuckDB over open Iceberg Parquet files with instant execution and filter pushdown.

Time-Travel Queries

Inspect historical table snapshots exactly as they existed on any past date—essential for audit defense and historical comparisons.

Multi-Format Exports

Download filtered result sets directly into CSV, Parquet, or JSON format for downstream reporting and BI integration.

2. The AI Insight Agent

The meldra AI Agent translates plain-English business questions into bounded, deterministic tool executions.

Natural Language Querying

Sample Prompt"Show me total kWh consumption grouped by feeder across the last 24 hours."
How it worksThe Agent inspects catalog metadata, constructs a safe SQL query, executes it via DuckDB, and presents the summary table alongside an execution plan.

Bounded Tool Safety

Safety designThe Agent operates exclusively through a transparent, bounded toolset (Run Query, Search Graph, Inspect Snapshot). It cannot execute arbitrary server scripts or bypass security policies.

3. Grid Topology & Asset Graph

Explore complex electrical grid relationships using the Apache AGE property graph visualizer.

Grid Relationship Hierarchy Level Analytical Purpose
Grid Supply Point (GSP) → Substation Transmission / Primary Distribution Regional load balancing and bulk power monitoring.
Substation → Feeder → Transformer Secondary Distribution Outage isolation, feeder loss calculations, and voltage anomaly root-cause analysis.
Transformer → Cutout → Meter (MPAN) Premises / Edge Premises-level consumption, microgrid export, and smart meter ping tracking.

4. User Customization & RBAC Security

Admins can tailor the UI experience and enforce strict security boundaries directly from the settings panel:
