Live demo
Can you prove a meter reading is the one the meter sent?
Today a utility can show its meters are genuine, and separately that its database hasn't been edited. Nothing links the two. Here, every reading carries its own proof from the meter to the warehouse. Run it, then try to change a stored reading.
Step 1
Meters send a day of readings
Five meters each send 48 half-hourly readings. Each meter signs every reading with its own key and links it to the reading before. The gateway checks every reading as it arrives.
Step 2
The day is sealed
At the end of the day every reading's fingerprint is combined into one value, the seal. Change any reading, anywhere, and the seal no longer matches.
Step 3
Now try to change the stored data
The readings are now stored. Pretend you have access to the database. Click a square above to pick a reading, or let the demo pick one.

What this means
When someone asks "where did this figure come from?", the answer doesn't have to be a spreadsheet and a narrative. Any total built from these readings can be re-checked, reading by reading, back to the meter that signed it, and a changed reading is caught and named.
The same checks run in the meldra platform when readings arrive and while they're stored. The reading format on this page is the platform's: SHA-256 over the reading's fields, linked to the previous reading.
What's simulated
- The meters, their identifiers and their readings. No real customer data is used.
- The meter keys are created in your browser when the page loads. Real meters keep their key in secure hardware.
- Speeds shown are your browser's, not a measurement of the platform.
